Hey folks!
Glad you stumbled across my team’s page! If you don’t know what Camp Sweeney is, I’ll take a second to explain it (and its impacts on me) to you. Camp Sweeney is a Camp that serves diabetics children and I’ve had the pleasure of attending for the past 7 summers. While I could write pages worth of paragraphs explaining just how influential the experience has been for me, I’ll give you a short rundown.

Camp has been the source of some serious introspection and I wouldn’t be where I’m at if it weren’t for Camp setting me on that path. It’s given me sincere friendships, solid morals, and the confidence to be myself. Throughout this introspection, I’ve begun to recognize what it is that’s important in my life. It’s made me recognize what I care about, which is something I never realized (or even realized I needed to learn). For me, Camp represents so much more than what you might see in pictures. Personally, it represented my first step toward a life I was proud to be living. More broadly, it represents a place where people learn to break free from some of the most debilitating preconceptions of what it meant to be diabetic (or anything, really).

So, on to how YOU can help me and thousands of other kids. There are a few ways you can help support a child to have this incredible experience, but I’ll list the easiest:

1. DONATE! The most obvious way to support Camp Sweeney is in the form of a monetary donation. This can be done on Camp Sweeney’s main website, but before that I hope you consider…
2. JOIN MY TEAM! While this event is presented as an in-person event, you don’t have to actually attend the event! You can join my team as a virtual participant.
3. SHARE! Sharing is one of THE most effective ways to support Camp Sweeney and it won’t cost you anything other than a few minutes of your time a post on your social media. No matter how small you think your audience is, Sweeney’s message can spread like wildfire, and your impact can be much greater than you realize.

I hope you consider joining my team and supporting Camp Sweeney.

Until next time,
Jojo (Or, whatever you call me)
