Any individual who is eligible to be a camper in 2020 may sign up for Sweet Home Camp Sweeney events. This includes children and youth who are 5 to 18 years old (or 19 years old if just graduated from high school). While our focus is on children with type 1 diabetes, we also accept children with type 2 diabetes or any other type of diabetes. Siblings and friends of diabetic campers may also participate.
Most Sweet Home Camp Sweeney events take place on Zoom. However, we utilize other platforms such as Poll Everywhere for specific events. We will send out information each day on the platform we will be using for that day’s events.
Absolutely! We plan to host Sweeney Fit, dances, and other active events that campers can participate in from home.
We encourage campers to come for the full day of activities they are signed up for. You won’t be penalized for missing activities; however, there are awards for campers who attend each activity for the entire week. Campers will get the most out of their sibling group experience if they come to each sibling group session.
At least two weeks before the start of your Sweet Home Camp Sweeney week, we will send you a full schedule for the week of events and allow campers to select their activities.
Each event will have a minimum of one staff member providing supervision and instruction.
Each day may have different activities offered but will likely consist of two hours of activities (such as dances, arts and crafts, cooking, etc.) followed by sibling time and SweeneyMED. There will be 15-30 minute breaks between most activities. Some days have modified schedules for special events.
A full schedule for the week you are signed up for will be sent at least two weeks ahead of time.
Signups close at 1 PM CDT 10 days before the start of the Sweet Home Camp Sweeney week. For example, signups for June 15 – 19 will close on June 5.

Questions about Sweeney Connect
Sweeney Connect allows campers to tune in and see what’s going on at Camp Sweeney. These events may include hikes around the lake, KPFC music hours, and more. Anyone can tune in for free and there is no registration.
Sweet Home Camp Sweeney events require signing up ahead of time and there is a fee of $25 to participate. Registration includes the week’s F-U-N Box. Sweet Home Camp Sweeney events give individuals a chance to actively participate in events rather than simply tuning in to watch.
We will actively post on social media throughout the summer about upcoming events. Additionally, as we schedule events, they will be posted on the Camp Sweeney website. You can check the calendar for a full list of scheduled Sweeney Connect events.
Sweeney Connect events will be on Facebook Live, Instagram Live, or Livestream.
