Counseling
Staff
Sweeney counselors act as doctors, nurses, parents, teachers, and friends to their campers. Counselors work alongside a medical staff of physicians, residents, and medical students to care for our campers. In the course of a day, counselors will supervise hundreds of blood tests, administer insulin injections, and provide treatment for low and high blood sugars. At the same time, counselors lead over 30 different activities during the day and special events at night. Counselors also live alongside campers in one of our eight cabins. Counselors gain valuable hands-on experience working both autonomously and with a supportive team and, most importantly, make a difference in the lives of children with a life-long medical condition.
We have completed hiring the counseling staff of summer 2022. If you are interested in applying for summer 2023, please fill out the employment inquiry below no earlier than September 2022.
Apply NowMedical
Staff
Every summer, Sweeney campers rely on a highly-trained staff of medical students and physicians to manage their diabetes and treat any illness, injury, or emergency that arises along the way. After finishing their first year of medical school, students receive a unique opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom to real cases with real patients in an immersive, hands-on environment. Working alongside rising MS4s, residents, and attending physicians across a variety of specialties, students will work with some of the most passionate and service-oriented professionals in the field to make a lasting impact on the health and lives of their campers.

Assistants
Program Assistants, or PAs, are the backbone of our program. Often working behind the scenes, PAs prepare and operate a vast range of activities for our campers. From maintenance to event coordination, these selfless workers provide the support necessary for each camper to have an incredible experience at Sweeney. Because PAs operate in two teams on rotating weeklong shifts, most are DFW or local college-aged students who commute to Camp Sweeney. Lodging is provided only during these shifts.
Apply NowKitchen
Staff
Nutrition is a key part of the Camp Sweeney lifestyle. Each summer, approximately 15 people are hired to work as cooks and kitchen aids to prepare meals for campers and staff. Shifts begin before breakfast and end after supper cleanup. Unlike counselors, medical staff, and PAs, kitchen staff do not live at Camp Sweeney during the summer. Most staff live in the surrounding communities for easy commute. Both experienced and inexperienced kitchen workers are encouraged to apply.
Apply NowOffice
Staff
Along with the year-round, full-time, and part-time staff, additional office support is employed each summer. Office staff perform a number of activities including data entry, client communication via phone and email, and activity support. Activity support includes a variety of tasks including preparing camper tee shirts, daily roll call sheets, social media updates, and much more. Like the Kitchen Staff, camp housing is not required for Office Staff.
