Event Details
Who may participate?
Everyone! Whether you are a serious runner wanting a timed run or just want to enjoy the day, the Sweeney 5K and 1K are sure to satisfy. All ages are welcome.
What is the cost?
The early registration entry fee is $35 and includes the race and a tee shirt. You may upgrade your tee shirt to a dry-fit for $10. Early registration ends May 20th and the entry fee will increase to $45. The sleep-in fee is the same as the entry fee.
Can I create a running team?
Absolutely. Just choose either the 5K course or the 1K course and follow the instructions for registering and creating a team.
Can I create a NON-running team?
You bet! Just choose "Sleep-In" when choosing your race and follow the instructions for registering and creating a team. Everyone who "sleeps-in" will receive an event tee shirt following memorial day.
How can I let others know about my team page or individual page?
Just email or text your friends and family the link for your team page. The link is listed at the top of your team/individual page under "Share". Or simply go to your team page and copy the link from the address bar at the top of your browser window.
What's the difference between a team member and someone who just donates to my team?
A team member is a runner on your team and must register to participate. However, anyone can donate towards your team without registering for either the 5K or 1K.
What is the race route for 2019?
You can view the route of the 2019 race here.
Can I bring my dog?
We have had several dogs at our event in the past. Just be sure that your dog is on a leash and has all of the required vaccinations.
Can I push a stroller while running in the 5K or 1K?
Sure! Just be sure to stay to the side so that faster runners may go around if necessary.
What else is there to do at Camp Sweeney's Play for the Day besides the 5K and 1K?
There is a lot to do even if you don't want to run in either race. There are children's activities, rides, face painting, and balloon art. There are also several yummy restaurants within walking distance if you get a bit peckish.
What is this event for? Who does it benefit?
There are 3 purposes for this event. The first is to raise awareness for childhood diabetes and T1D. The net proceeds help provide scholarships for children who have diabetes to attend Camp Sweeney.
The second purpose of the event is to promote the Lake Highlands area, the Lake Highlands PID, and local businesses.
And the final purpose of the event is to provide a wonderfully active family/community outing.
How do I become a sponsor?
That's easy. Just click here.
How can I sign up to be a vendor?
Contact the Lake Highlands PID at LakeHighlandsPID@att.net.
How do I upload a photo or logo to my team page?
You can send your photo or logo to TeamPhoto. Camp Sweeney reserves the right to not publish or remove information or images from team pages if deemed inappropriate.
How can I make changes to my Team Name or Team Page?
You can send changes to TeamChanges. Be sure to include your current Team Name and Team Captain. Changes will generally be made within a few hours if received during business hours.
How can I get a VIP Tent?
VIP Team Tents are earned by teams who raise $2,500 in donations or who recruit 25 participants in a single team. Please do not bring your personal tent. Space is limited, and there are certain city guidelines we have to follow for tents.
